About me

Evelyn Mendoza, PhD

I am a mechanical engineer who specializes in design for robotic systems. I completed my PhD at Northeastern university. My thesis work concentrates on haptic teleoperated robots for medical applications. My work while completing my PhD focused on the design of low-friction, low-impedance hydrostatic actuators and transparent transmissions for applications that require haptic feedback .

I received a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from Tufts University. While at Tufts, I honed my interest for robotics and dynamics courses, refined in my machining skills, and mentored a high school’s FIRST robotics team.

My current work/research interests include human-robot interactions and interfaces, teleoperation, transparent transmissions, and haptic manipulators/robotic system. In my free time, I enjoy snowboarding, rock-climbing, scuba-diving, traveling, and engineering projects.
